Innocence of Muslims causes violence across the Middle East. The low budget flick is poorly-acted and mocks the prophet Muhammad. An Arabic translation of the movie is released during the anniversary of September 11 terror attacks.

The Associated Press reported that the director of Innocence of Muslims was Sam Bacile, a Jewish California-based real estate developer. But later it tracked down Nakoula Basseley Nakoula, a Coptic Christian who said he helped produce the movie but he didn?t direct it. Federal officials confirmed that Nakoula wrote and directed the movie. He has a rap sheet that included financial fraud and has several aliases including one similar to Sam Bacile.

A Coptic Christian company named Media for Christ was identified as the producers of Innocence of Muslims. Los Angeles County Sheriff?s Department officials were asked to go to Nakoula?s home as well as the Media for Christ offices last Wednesday and Thursday.

Innocence of Muslims is a low budget movie that portrays the prophet Muhammad as a child molester and hypersexual. It has resulted into violent protests in Yemen and Cairo and in the killings at the US Embassy in Libya.

In the United States, religious figures are honored and satirized. The movie makers are protected by the First Amendment rights to free speech but there?s a thin line between art and hate. In the Middle East, Muhammad is not considered divine but a human being who gets revelation. Islamic countries are more protective of the prophet.

In Innocence of Muslims, Muhammad is seen cavorting with women and asking a donkey if he likes girls. He is also portrayed as a pedophile. The movie is said to be based on parts of Islamic religious text in the Quran, such as having multiple wives, but the Western interpretation is offensive to the Muslims.
